Two Tips for P2P Fundraising

Peer-to-peer (P2P) fundraising is one of the biggest trends in the nonprofit industry (think Ice Bucket Challenge). For those who do not know, P2P fundraising is when supporters raise money by reaching out to their friends and family. In that sense, P2P reaches new markets in a way that they prefer to be engaged: by learning about the nonprofit and its efforts from someone they know personally.

The benefits to P2P fundraising are obvious. People are more inclined to give money to friends and family members. As such, it appears to have a promising future when it is used as a fundraising strategy. So how do you do this approach effectively? Here are two tips:

Social media has a major impact on the effectiveness of a P2P campaign

While it may be impossible to replicate the Ice Bucket Challenge’s success, that shouldn’t discourage you to promote your cause via a strategic social media campaign. Focus on creating a campaign with a brief and simple message that can encourage and mobilize supporters to share your cause with their social media network.

Make sure your campaign catches the attention of the millennial generation

As a whole, the millennial demographic is the most connected with their social media networks. Engaging with them allows for easy promoting and sharing of your organization and its cause.

Creative Themes for a Halloween Fundraiser

Yearly festivities that are much-awaited by both children and adults are perfect opportunities to grow your following and raise funds for your nonprofit. With all the fun traditions and unique themes you can use during the celebration, you can surely come up with charity events that a lot of people would want to be part of. Let’s explore some possibilities for your upcoming Halloween fundraising:

Dress us up!
Does your cause involve kids or underprivileged individuals? Through our platform, you can arrange to have generous donors buy costumes for your benefactors. Charitable people can also donate to finance a fun Halloween party for your cause.

Run for your lives and for others!
Put a twist to the usual fun runs or marathons! Give your participants costumes instead of simple race bibs. Alternatively, you can give it a twilight-zone or apocalypse theme, where ghouls, goblins, and zombies can chase the participants to try and eliminate them from the race.

Pound plenty of pumpkins for a prize!
Who doesn’t love pumpkin-smashing? Make it a challenge to see which participant can pulverize the most pumpkins in a set time limit. To make things easier, you can sell the pumpkin-smashing tools, such as the sledge hammer and apron, as well as the entrance tickets to your event on our online platform, eBay Giving Works.

Treat yourself to a royal ball!

Parties don’t have to be dark and scary. Organize a glamorous ball, where the dress code strictly specifies royal gowns and prince attires. You can also find rare or high-fashion costumes and auction them off on our platform for attendees.

Twitter Tips for Nonprofits

Many who initially used Twitter to keep in touch with friends and family may not have envisioned that the site would have evolved from a simple social outlet into a massively effective business tool. Professionals of every kind now use the social networking site, nonprofit organizations and corporate leaders included. The nonprofit sector, in particular, has been very active on Twitter, given the opportunities it presents in terms of audience building, marketing, and fundraising.

If your nonprofit is new on Twitter, you might be tempted to simply tweet a call to action every day. As ideal as this may sound, this is the wrong way to go about your Twitter use. With that in mind, here are a couple of tips that can help you use the social media site more effectively.

Be professional

Choose a catchy and professional-sounding Twitter handle or username. Upload your nonprofit’s logo or a decent photo of yourself to serve as your account’s profile picture. Set up your profile so that it’s easy for people to understand your org’s cause. Make it clear if you are tweeting for your organization or for yourself.

The power of retweeting

Sharing and promoting content is what social media is all about. The trick is to not make your Twitter page all about you. People who can only talk about themselves tend to tick many people off, and the same can be said about organizations.

The more you use Twitter, the more you’ll find these tips useful. Happy tweeting!

What inspires you to support charity fundraisers?

"According to the National Center for Charitable Statistics, there are currently over 1.5 million nonprofit organizations in America. These charities support many causes, including breast cancer, family planning, AIDS, animal rights, human rights, and the environment, among other things. But what inspires individuals and companies to give to these charity fundraiser organizations? A Chron.com article discusses some of the reasons: Personal motivation According to the article, many people donate to organizations with personal connections. Someone with a family member afflicted by cancer may get involved with a charity such as the American Cancer Society. An employee with a developmentally disabled child may give to the Special Olympics. By donating to these causes, donors feel they contribute to something that directly affects their lives."
