Easier Options Abound on the Internet for Fundraising for Nonprofits

As a great portion of the population is on social media, this make it easier for participating non-profits to generate funds via donations. The word will be easily spread among Facebook users, and they can conveniently make the donation they want with little time spent.

At the moment however, this is only partially beneficial on the donation front. When using auctions and retail as fundraising for nonprofit organizations, transactions must still be coursed through the official marketplaces the non-profit is using. If an organization were looking to the sale of different products to generate funding, they would only feature the product on their official social media account, but its purchase and subsequent donation would have to be complete on a platform like the eBay Giving Works program.

Fundraising for Nonprofits, Lady Gaga and eBay build a Brave New World

We’ve seen our fair share of celebrity charity auctions here at eBay Giving Works. We pride ourselves with how easy we’ve made it for stars like Scarlett Johansson, Christina Aguilera, and Ke$ha to use our platform when fundraising for nonprofits and charities they support.

Following in their footsteps, another big name in the entertainment industry has been making waves on eBay Giving Works. Lady Gaga recently partnered with our website to hold fundraising for nonprofits, putting the wardrobe she wore for her much talked-about Harper’s Bazaar cover photo shoot on auction until February 28, 2014. The proceeds of the event will benefit her charity, the Born This Way Foundation.

Non Profit Fundraising Programs and Other Ways to Help Our Veterans

Unlike other world powers, the United States does not require its citizens to render mandatory military service. Still, despite the abolition on conscription in 1973, thousands of brave Americans enlist each year to protect and serve the country. After witnessing the ravages of war, however, many come home physically, mentally and emotionally battered, and they struggle to reintegrate into society once their tour of duty ends.

The eBay Giving Works program allows people to sell items online and give part of the proceeds to the Wounded Warrior Project, a non profit organization that aids injured soldiers get back on their feet.

If you have nothing to sell, consider buying items with the Giving Works logo so a portion of your payment gets donated to Wounded Warrior Project. This nonprofit fundraising program also allows you to donate directly to your chosen charity via PayPal.

Supporting Non Profit Fundraisers: Goods For Others, Good For You

If there’s one thing people should do more of, it’s helping each other out. Realistically speaking though, the noblest plans often fall to the wayside due to the realities of daily life. For example, you might want to set up a soup kitchen for Christmas but work or family obligations leave you little time to make it happen.

With so many ways to help and so many benefits to gain, helping others should definitely be part of your new year’s resolution. What other ways can you think of aside from volunteering, starting donation drives, and supporting fundraisers for nonprofits?

Nonprofit Online Fundraising is Helping Philippines Typhoon Victims

In early November last year, Typhoon Haiyan, the strongest storm that’s been recorded at landfall, struck the Philippines. Many provinces felt the destructive force of the storm, consequently rendering them in a state of calamity.

Agencies that are listed as accepting donations and relief goods include The International Committee of the Red Cross/Philippine Red Cross, World Food Program, Save the Children, Unicef and others. Nonprofit online fundraising has continued to play a role in helping the victims of this unfortunate catastrophe gain access to clean drinking water and other necessities.

Make Children’s Dreams Come True with Simple Charity Fundraising Ideas

The Make-a-Wish Foundation is one of the most respected nonprofits in the United States. As the organization's name implies, its members strive to make the wish of a child diagnosed with a life-threatening disease come true. Recently, the foundation, which is responsible for the Bat Kid event in San Francisco, helped turn another child's dream into a reality.

According to Make-a-Wish Foundation officials, the nonprofit grants the wish of one child every 38 minutes. As one can expect, fulfilling the wishes of these children can be very expensive, but the organization presses forward because of the joy their actions bring to the children.

If you still want to contribute, but do not have the time to stage a fundraising event, you can also start an online fundraiser. Popular online fundraising ideas include sending email solicitations and selling items over websites like eBay Giving Works. Take advantage of social media to help promote your online fundraiser more effectively.

One Ballet Company’s Inspired Approach to Fundraising for Nonprofits

When brainstorming ideas for fundraising for nonprofits, be prepared to think of possibilities outside the usual marathons, bake sales, and balls. Instead, think of what’s available to you—the legislators were available to the ballet company, since they worked together in the past—and find interesting new ways to work with them.

Keep in mind that creative fundraising for nonprofits can take the form of selling unique and interesting products. For example, you could set up an auction with eBay Giving Works, and have guests bid for a unique piece of art your beneficiaries created. Alternatively, you could arrange for the sale of exotic flowers for upcoming holidays. Really, the sky’s the limit!

Help Disaster Relief Efforts by Organizing a Simple Charity Fundraiser

The American Red Cross is one of the largest disaster relief nonprofit organizations in the world, responding to roughly 70,000 disasters in the United States annually. According to The Republic, the American Red Cross and its volunteers are currently asking for online charity donations, among other forms of assistance, to help those who were affected by house fires in West Virginia.

According to American Red Cross members, the average amount of money a family needs to recover from a house fire is $1,250. As that amount may seem a bit steep for an individual donation, people can opt to stage their own fundraisers to help raise that amount and more.

Support Nonprofit Fundraisers to Help Shelters Care for Abused Dogs

If you want to aid abused, neglected, or homeless dogs too, one of the best things you can do is help your local animal shelter. Support nonprofit fundraisers that provide much-needed money to these organizations, which they use to house, feed, and cure the animals they harbor. You can also start a dog-walking service or sell hand-made crafts, then donate the proceeds to your animal shelter.

EBay also has an online nonprofit fundraiser program called Giving Works. Through it, you can sell pre-owned belongings and donate 10-100% of your sales to the Humane Society of the United States, a nonprofit that campaigns for animal rights and conducts animal rescue.

Increase Your Donation Amount by Holding Online Auctions for Charity

Fundraising through online charity auctions is popular because it requires no starting capital. Organizers do not need to find a suitable venue or hire a professional auctioneer. Saving money up front allows for more of the proceeds to be donated to the charity.

Another reason why many people prefer starting online auctions for charity is that these eliminate geographical issues, allowing people from different places to place bids. Additionally, online auctions do not need to feature grand items. You can easily move collectors’ items, excess accessories, and even unwanted Christmas gifts in an online auction, especially when bidders realize that it is for charitable purposes.

Kids Can Help Too! A Few Nonprofit Fundraising Ideas for Children

The story carried by the embassy website says that Sochi, together with his mother Miho, personally went to the embassy to personally hand over all the contents of his piggy bank savings to Second Secretary and Consul Bryan Dexter Lao. They said that the young boy “did not think twice about giving away his childhood savings.”

As the article illustrates, even little children can be a big help in times of crisis. Of course, donating the contents of their piggybank is just one way by which kids can help; by doing simple nonprofit fundraising ideas like setting up a lemonade stand or starting a carwash, they can also raise money that can then be donated to a charitable institution.

Nonprofit Online Fundraising Efforts are just as effective as 5K Runs

Such a fundraising mechanism also enables efficient monitoring as donations are instantly registered and processed online. This beats hosting TV ads and radio plugs to encourage people to fund and support worthy causes.

Nonprofit online fundraising efforts offer other benefits. For instance, information about the charity and its causes can be disseminated more extensively and on a much more personal level. Online fundraisers may not offer the same health benefits as 5K races, but they nonetheless allow people with very little time on their hands to take part in worthwhile initiatives and make a difference.

Looking for Winning Charity Fundraising Ideas? Better Start Small

Charities also need to do some legwork of their own if they wish to secure adequate funding for their respective causes. Sponsorships, especially from local businesses (as opposed to large enterprises), are particularly beneficial to small charities and foundations. Local businesses, in turn, can attract more customers by means of lucrative charity fundraiser ideas like sales and auctions.

Some businesses are also likely to partner with charities or foundations that support meaningful, high-profile causes such as health and poverty. As such, aspiring charity founders would do well to align themselves with efforts aimed at addressing the most pressing concerns in their respective communities while remaining true to their core principles.

Overcome Donation Fatigue through Alternative Charity Fundraising

The problem with donating to large nonprofits is that it can be very costly to even donate the minimum amount required by these organizations. This can be problematic for donors who only intend to bequeath a modest and respectable sum, thereby barring them from donating. Fortunately, alternative charity fundraising options such as the eBay Giving Works program are quite flexible.

As an alternative to donations made to private foundations, one can tap into programs that accept payments or donations regardless of the sum—such as eBay Giving Works, for instance. This type of alternative fundraising for charity can accommodate even the smallest amount and donate 100% of the proceeds on behalf of all participating charities. The amount of a donation should certainly never stop a donor from helping out in any way possible.

Genuine Help, Genuine Response: Supporting a Legit Charity Fundraiser

Genuine charity fundraisers will do everything necessary to ensure that the donations they receive don’t go to waste. Such an organization is typically recognized by the IRS as an approved charity. Likewise, you may want to ask for a letter confirming the organization’s tax-exempt status or check with the IRS if the charity is eligible for tax-deductible contributions.

It’s one thing to find a legitimate charity, yet it’s another thing to comply with the payment methods enforced by the organization. Programs such as eBay Giving Works allow donors to wire their contributions via electronic means such as PayPal, which is a safe means of transferring currency. Thanks to such reliable and flexible payment options, folks shouldn’t have a problem supporting reputable charity fundraisers.
