Helping Those with Parkinson’s

Share it Please
What if you woke up one day unable to control your own body? While this sounds like a bad dream to most folks, this scenario is a reality for people who suffer from Parkinson's disease.

According to the Parkinson’s disease foundation, about one million Americans have this debilitating condition, and another 60,000 new cases are diagnosed each year. In this disease, the neurons in the brain gradually break down and die, leading to diminished body control, often exemplified by symptoms such as tremors, rigid muscles, and loss of unconscious movements (like blinking).

While there is no cure for Parkinson’s disease, it’s heartening to know that organizations like the Parkinson's Patients Support Groups, Inc. of Northern and Central California (PPSG) help patients, families, and caregivers cope with this ailment by assisting in the formation of support groups, and by disseminating information through its newsletter.

Of course, the PPSG is a non-profit group that relies on volunteers and donations to continue its good work. Fortunately, you can help support its cause by using online charity platforms where a portion of the sale of goods proceeds to the PPSG and other worthwhile non-profits.

As you can see, every bit helps when it comes to improving the lives of people with Parkinson’s disease. Fortunately, there are more ways than ever to show your support.
